  1. My favorite photo that I took in this set is my paramount photo of Jack Draeger holding the money spread. I really like this photo because it just shows great emotion as he is so nonchalant about holding so much money in his hand. It is also a just a really fun picture to take as it is always cool to work together and have a good laugh with someone like Jack while taking a fun photo.
  2. I think I can use paramount lighting in many of my future photos. I believe I can utilize this technique because it is a decently simple technique when taking photos. I also just really like the photo comes out because there is a complete light on the persons face which is where everyone looks first usually.

A Motion Commotion

Motion Frozen,  1/85 secs, f/14, ISO 100, Shutter Priority
Motion Blur, 1/30 secs, f/16, ISO 100, Shutter Priority
Light Painting, 6.2 secs, f/11, ISO 200, Manual

What tips/advice would you give another photographer about shooting motion?

One tip I would give to another photographer when shooting motion is to not be afraid to take many photos at once. When I was taking my photos, I had trouble getting my motion freeze and blur pictures because I kept missing the moment. The cope for this was to take many photos starting when the model/athlete started moving as seen in my photos.

Creating a Cretu

I hope my composite image communicates to the viewer the longevity of Bartolo Colon by comparing him to Napoleon. This is because Napoleon conquered many territories and Bartolo had conquered almost every team in Professional baseball world wide. My piece is making the statement that culture today still has some people who live the old school way of life like Bartolo as a leader. The main reason why I chose my image was because Bartolo had won a game that he pitched against every team in his Major Leaugue career like Napoleon who conquered almost every area in sight. One key piece of advice that I would give to a person looking to create a composite image in Photoshop would be to use Hue and Saturation very well. I say this because you can use it to match the photoshopped part with the original photo. Also using a background with a low opacity is a great touch.

The Abstract side of Abstract art.

For my Questions I have chosen my refraction photo.

  1. What is the distinct mood of the photograph? Explain.

The mood of the photo proves to be very upbeat and happy as seen through the green in the grass of the field. This goes along with the sky being able to light up the field for it to be a sunny day in Los Angeles. The color of the dirt also helps to bring the cheerful mood because its where some of the best players are with the star of the show being in the middle at home plate.

2. What does the photo make you think about? Explain.

The Photo makes me think of the perspective of a bird sitting on top of the upper deck at Dodger stadium. This makes me feel really happy because with this view I can see the whole field and every player and fan. It also makes me think about how big the stadium really is and how cool it is in all of its greatness.

3. What in the photo jumps out at you? Explain.

The patterns in the grass of the outfield most certainly jumps out to me the most. I feel this way because when taking a closer look at the grass one would realize that it is symmetrical as to the darker shades of the grass to the lighter shades. The pattern goes for, vertical to represent the main parts of the outfield where most of the hits are caught. But the diagonal pattern represents the gaps of the field where the hitter is most likely to get a hit if the ball is hit there.

4. How does the photo make you feel? Explain.

This photo makes me feel inner peace. The stadium where this photo was taken is the stadium of my favorite baseball team which I love visiting whenever I can get the chance. The brightness of the stands and the bright blue outfield wall to signal a homerun is also really calming to look at because of the color contrast from dark green to a baby blue color.

5. What advice would you give to next year’s students for shooting abstract photography? Explain.

The main piece of advice I would give to next year’s students shooting for abstract photography is to really try to get a good color contrast in their photos. A good contrast in color will always speak to the viewer of a photo, but abstract photography will really pull this factor out and will make the photo better. To reference my refraction photo I used the contrast of a light dirt color with 2 different shades of green to point out the main parts of the field.

I’m currently on a seafood diet… I see food and I eat it.

This photo was taken in Room 403 in Degeta Hall
This Photo was taken in my best friends kitchen.
  1. For the First photo in the classroom, I chose an apple because of the irony that came with it. Growing up I was always told when you do something bad in school, you should give the teacher an apple as an “I’m sorry” gift. I also chose the banana for the other photo because I thought it would be like a cartoon to see a banana peel on someone’s head.
  2. The lighting in the first photo was only classroom lighting. I believe that helped boost the mood and atmosphere because it really helps portray the idea that it was a regular school day. The second photo was taken with only lighting from outside. This affects the mood of the photo because it was darker which explains how the banana peel ended up on my friends head rather than the.
  3. I used the rule of thirds for my composition in the first photo. I used that composition when editing by cropping it so the apple is in the bottom left corner, and the student is in the top right corner. This gives off the effect that you are looking at the student, who is giving the teacher an apple. The second photo uses the composition of symmetry. This is because the banana is on the center of my friend’s head.
  4. The background of the photo being black and white with only the fruits being colorized helps the fruit really stand out. I chose to mark only the fruits with color because it attracts the viewer’s attention to that fruit which should be the focal point of the photograph. The color in the banana photo also helps emphasize how silly the photo is.
  5. I used the zoom of the lens in the classroom photo to zoom out so I could capture both the student and the teacher with the apple in the center. I tried to get the photo with each person at opposite corners with them meeting diagonally in the middle with the student giving the teacher the apple. I tried to use my Iphone camera with regular focus but getting the camera up close to my friend so the photo seems as natural as possible. I then enhanced the yellow to make sure the main focus is on the peel
  6. My main piece of advice to give to next year’s students for shooting food portraits is to think outside of the box. This means don’t just take a photo of someone eating food, but instead make the photo ironic like the apple photo. Another suggestion would be for a banana peel photo, try to safely get a photo of someone slipping on a banana peel like seen in a cartoon.

Why Choose 1 Element When You Can Have All 7 In 10 Photos

1. What strengths and weaknesses do you see in your own work?                        One strength I see is that I believe I can take good photos with good angles. I believe I am able to get good shots so I can minimize the amount of editing I have to do. A big weakness I see in my work is my ability to edit and fix the colors in the shots.

2. How might you improve or refine your approach in future photography projects?
I might refine my approach in my future photography projects by taking more photos of nature. I took a lot of photos of people and objects and I believe that taking more photos of nature could speak to more people. I also believe I could include more color in my photos. The photo I believe the color looks the best is the scoreboard, if I could get every photo like that it would be amazing.

3. Pick one of your photos, what emotions or messages did you intend to convey through this photograph?
The photo of the baseball conveys the emotion of happiness. I believe this because the photo has a very up beat mood in the sense that it is decently bright and you can see all of the seams on the ball. I also like the way the turf looks because the texture is so prevalent that it looks like you could actually be on the field playing the game.

4. Are there specific elements of art you would like to explore further in your photography?
I would further like to explore the element of texture. I would like to explore texture because I really like how my texture photo came out with the baseball and I feel I could even get better shots. I also believe I can find more examples of natural shapes and take more shots of that.

5. What concepts or techniques do you want to experiment with in your next project?
I would like to test out different angles in my next project. I believe I took maybe too many photos with a birds eye view, and if I mix in a few photos with a worms eye view it would be the photos look even more unique. I would also like to test photos with a lens with a better zoom. I think if I were to have more zoom on some photos I could exploit the color and textures and make it look better.

Do a Natural Photoshoot They Said

This photo was taken outside with my friends and I got this pretty cool photo of my friends looking out at the pond.
This Photo was taken at my Uncle’s house outside as we were making some home made pizza for my Aunts Birthday.
Captured this photo of my pond outside over the weekend, I thought it looked nice.

1.)  I enjoyed being able to have the liberty to take my own photos for this project. I also enjoyed admiring some of the things around my yard, as well as my family’s house that provided me the subjects for my photos. Lastly, I liked being able to use the photos I would normally just take on my phone but do nothing with, for this project.

2.) Unfortunately I wasn’t in class the day we took photos using the DSLR cameras. However, when I had the opportunity to check them out during class, one challenge was figuring out how to take a burst of photos. Another challenge was transporting the photos from the camera onto the computer.

3.) The next photo shoot I would include more of my friends or family in the photos. I would also consider taking more up close/zoomed in and detailed photos since these were more large scale subject photos. I also might want to take some of my dog or other animals in nature.
